Munich to Budapest

Overview

DAY 1: Munich
You are met at the airport and transferred* to your hotel. (Please schedule your flights to arrive before noon).  This afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of Munich including the Marienplatz.

DAY 2: Munich – Oberammergau Passion Play (FB,L,D)
After breakfast, travel the famous Romantic Road to the village of Oberammergau. There is time to explore the historic town before enjoying lunch and the play from your Category 1 seat.

DAY 3: Oberammergau – Innsbruck (FB,D)
Today, travel through stunning scenery to the pretty town of Seefeld, SCENICENRICH where we enjoy a horse-drawn carriage trip amongst the woods and meadows after indulging in apple strudel and coffee at a local inn. Onwards to Innsbruck for a city tour of the old town.

DAY 4: Innsbruck – Salzburg (FB,D)
Continue to the baroque city of Salzburg. A guided walking tour of the old town will include the mighty cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace and many of the locations from ‘The Sound of Music’.

DAY 5: Salzburg – Nuremberg (FB,D)
Today venture into the Salzkammergut and stop in the town of Mondsee to see the church where Maria was married to Captain Von Trapp in the film. Our journey continues to Nuremberg where a warm welcome awaits you as you board your luxury Scenic Tours “Space-Ship”.

DAY 6: Nuremberg (FB,L,D)
We commence with a guided orientation tour of the old town and see the Justice Palace and Imperial Castle. We then dedicate time to the history of WWII with a visit to the Documentation Centre

DAY 7: Regensburg (FB,L,D)
Regensburg is one of Germany’s finest preserved cities and during our guided walking tour we get to see the Old Chapel and visit Thurn und Taxis Castle and the medieval stone bridge across the Danube for a view of the cityscape.

DAY 8: Passau – Linz (FB,L,D)
SCENIC FREECHOICE choose from: (1) a guided tour of Passau; or (2) visit Salzburg, setting for ‘The Sound of Music’ and birthplace of Mozart; or (3) a full day excursion to the beautiful medieval town of Cesky Krumlov.

DAY 9: Melk – Dürnstein –Vienna (FB,L,D)
Discover the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk on your guided tour.  SCENICENRICH During our visit inside the Abbey an exclusive organ recital has been arranged. Your ship sails through the spectacular wine region of the Wachau Valley to picturesque Durnstein where you will have free time to explore at your leisure. This evening we arrive in Vienna.

DAY 10: Vienna (FB,L,D)
This morning we explore the famous sights of Vienna, including the Ringstrasse and the Hofburg Palace.  SCENIC FREECHOICE choose from: (1) a guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace; or (2) visit the Opera House before enjoying coffee and cake in a famous Viennese café. SCENICENRICH This evening enjoy a glass of Austrian ‘Sekt’ at the majestic Palais Liechtenstein, followed by a private Viennese concert featuring the music of Strauss and Mozart.

DAY 11: Budapest (FB,L,D)
Our guided city tour of ancient Budapest will visit both Buda and Pest, linked by the famous Chain Bridge. Visit the Heroes’ Square, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and the medieval town on Castle Hill. This evening, be entertained by folklore music prior to your farewell dinner.

DAY 12: Budapest (FB)
After breakfast this morning it’s time to farewell your fellow passengers and disembark the ship for your transfer* to the airport.
